Tazo Berryblossom White Tea Review
A Blueberry Lovers Tea
Summary : To put it bluntly, if you enjoy white tea and blueberries, then this tea has your name on it.
Review : It's been a while since I sampled a tea from Tazo, and I had never sampled any of their white teas. As such, when I came across a white tea from Tazo with the intriguing name of Berryblossom White, I couldn't pass it up. As I like cranberries, blueberries and white tea, I thought I just might enjoy this tea as the blend seemed like it should be rather tasty.
Here is how Tazo describes this tea : "Like a flower petal brushed against the cheek, Tazo Berryblossom White is a delicate sensation. As you enjoy its subtle white tea nuances, you may be surprised by dazzling notes of blueberries and white cranberries. If this caught you off guard, try another sip and see if it happens again."
This tea contains the following ingredients : White Tea, Natural Blueberry Flavor and Natural Cranberry Flavor.
During my short career as a tea reviewer, I've learned a few things about the tea description put on the outside of the box or on a vendors website. And that pearl of wisdom - should you be interested - is that the description is rarely right.
Yet, for Tazo's Blueberry Blossom White Tea, the description on the box is dead-on accurate.
Once removed from the wrapper, the fragrance of the tea announced that without question that it indeed was a blueberry tea, with a hint of cranberry thrown in for fun.
Once this tea is brewed, Tazo's description of this tea is perfect. As white tea is a subtle tea, the taste is going to be subtle - not the kind of flavor that punches you in the nose and wakes all but the comatose.
And the flavor of blueberries in this tea, well, let me just say it was quite surprising. On the first sip, the flavor wasn't that strong although it was noticeable. But the more sips you take, the stronger the blueberry flavor becomes.
Moreover, once done with the tea, the aftertaste just lingers on and on. And, just in case you haven't guessed, the flavor of the aftertaste is....blueberry, what else?
Now, to be perfectly forthright, I'm not a diehard blueberry lover. Despite that, I thoroughly enjoyed this tea. The blueberry flavor, while strong, wasn't akin to biting on a raw blueberry right off the vine, for example. Instead, the bueberry flavor is of moderate strength without being overpowering. Does that make sense?
So what about the cranberry flavor? Well, I noticed the cranberry flavor during my first few sips. However, the more tea I drank, the less cranberry I tasted. And by the time I was done with the tea, the cranberry flavor had vanished altogether.
Which, truthfully, suited me just fine. Just as the box hints at (the color of the box and the name of the tea should be a giveaway), this is a blueberry tea - not a cranberry tea.
Overall, this is a blueberry lovers tea. If you like blueberries it is a guarantee that you'll completely enjoy this tea.
Recommendation : Yes. If you and blueberries are a match made in heaven, then you will enjoy this tea without question.
