Art of Tea : Santa's Little Helper Flavored Black Tea Review

A Very Smooth and Pleasant Tasting Holiday Tea

Summary : While the teas flavor in no way matched its strong fragrance, I still found the tea is pleasant and enjoyable to drink. The tea makes for a fine holiday tea.

Review : With all my Christmas shopping finally done, I felt it was finally time to pop the lid on a sampler tea I recently ordered through Art of Tea that had an intriguing and interesting name - Santa's Little Helper, which is a flavored black tea.

Art of Tea Santa's Little Helper

Here is how Art of Tea describes this tea on their website : "Santa’s sleigh bells would not be ringing without a lift from Santa’s Little Helper. Awaken your holiday spirit with this fun and deliciously sweet infusion of rich dark teas interlaced with wintery notes of cooling mint and smooth, decadent chocolate; Steeps a wonderfully engaging cup with an expressive aroma that captivates the senses and invites you to start the day. "

The Santa's Little Helper flavored black tea from Art of Tea contains the following ingredients : Organic Pu-erh, Organic Black Tea, Sugar Confections, Natural Flavors.

The moment I popped the lid on the sampler container I suspected I was going to like this tea. Besides being greeted by the wonderful aroma of chocolate and mint, what I loved about the tea was the cute little green christmas trees sprinkled in among the black tea leaves.

I mean...who can not possibly like a tea that has candy cane pieces and cute christmas trees in it?

And indeed, I did enjoy this tea. That said, I discovered the flavor of the tea once brewed was much weaker than expected. No doubt this was due to my believing the strong mint and chocolate fragrance of the tea would carry over once the tea was brewed.

But that wasn't the case. Once brewed, the tea was very smooth, dark in color, warm and rather full-body. However, the mint and chocolate flavor I expected was very weak. In short, the mint and chocolate flavor of the tea is quite subtle.

Despite the teas surprisingly weak flavor, I still enjoyed this tea. The lack of a traditional black tea flavor (and the often encountered bitterness that accompanies it) combined with its dark color does make Art of Tea's Santa's Little Helper an ideal holiday tea.

Overall, this is an enjoyable flavored black tea. While the flavor of the tea in no way matches its aroma, the tea still makes for a great Christmas time tea.

Recommendation : Yes. This is an enjoyable holiday tea. Dark and smooth, the tea has no bitterness and has a faint mint aftertaste. While the flavor of the tea wasn't nearly as strong as I expected, the tea is still quite enjoyable.
