Adagio Teas : Candy Cane Flavored
Black Tea Review
An Interesting Tea That Really Does
Taste Like Candy Cane
Summary : If you have been searching the world
over for a tea that tastes like a calorie and sugar free candy cane,
then you have found it, in
Adagio Teas
Candy Cane Tea.
Review : One great thing about Christmas is all the
candy, cookies and other tasty things that suddenly show up. Christmas
M&M's, exotic cookies, fancy caramels, unique chocolates and, of course,
candy canes...all make their appearance after Thanksgiving. The problem,
of course, is the heavy price you pay in terms of your waistline.
As such, I was quite curious to see what the Candy Cane Flavored Tea
from
Adagio Teas
would taste like. After all, if this tea tastes like candy canes, what
better way to enjoy a calorie free, sugar free mint drink...all year
long.
Here is how
Adagio Teas describes this tea on their website : "Premium black tea from Sri
Lanka flavored with minty candy canes. This wonderfully smooth treat
that will fill you with warm Christmas spirit and leave you jolly. Santa
knows if you've been naughty or nice, so you'd better buy some for a
friend, too! Give our Candy Cane Tea a try before Yuletide's end."
As you can see by the photo, this tea does indeed contain actual chunks
of candy cane in it. While the aroma straight out of the tin doesn't
proclaim mint all that loudly, there is never-the-less a slight mint
aroma about it.
Once this tea has been brewed, however, this tea does indeed become
a mint tea. And more specifically, a candy cane tea. And it is a really
strong tea too.
This tea, quite simply, is probably about as close as you are going
to get to finding the taste of candy cane in a tea. I was personally
rather surprised by how closely this tea mimicked the taste of an actual
candy cane.
Moreover, the taste was really, really strong. No fait taste of candy
cane here. You take one sip of this tea, and bang, you know...just
know...that this is a candy cane flavored tea. For this reason, if
you arent' a huge fan of either candy cane or strong mint teas, you
may wish to avoid this particular tea...as you may find the taste a
bit overpowering.
Recommendation : Yes. If you like candy canes, the
odds are quite high that you'll enjoy this tea...as it does indeed
taste remarkably similar to a candy cane straight off the Christmas
Tree. If mint or candy canes are not your thing, however, don't be
surprised if the strong taste overpowers your tastes.
