Impra Earl Grey Tea Review
Not Bad for a Generic Earl Grey Tea
Summary : This tea I would consider a "average" earl
grey tea. It is certainly not among the worlds finest of teas...but it
was better than expected and rather pleasant to drink this chilly night.
Review : After my less than inspiring experience when
I drank my last cup of "generic" earl grey tea...a Safeway
Earl Grey...I'll
confess I wasn't exactly looking forward to giving this tea a try. After
all...this tea costs 50 cents for 25 tea bags...and had the wonderfully
uplifting brand name of "Global Brands," which is a private
lable name here in the US for teas exported by Impra Teas.
Still, it is nearly 0 degrees out...and I hate the cold...and Wisconsin
too, admittedly. And since I bought this tea, it would be a shame to
waste it. And so with a heavy heart I decided to give this tea a try.
As you can guess, I wasn't exactly expecting miracles with this tea.
I know full well it would not compare to a quality loose-leaf of a premium
bagged tea from Tazo or Numi. Still, I was hoping it would be better
than the Safeway Earl Grey tea I tried!
And you know what...it was!
Admittedly, that isn't saying much...as the bar was set pretty darn
low. Still, for a generic earl grey tea, this tea was surprisingly good.
The tea had a nice "bite" to it...and a fairly powerful flavor. If you
like other bagged earl grey teas, such as those from Stash and Bigelow,
the odds are you'll enjoy this one too...since it basically tastes the
same.
The tea also has a decent and relatively long lasting after-taste. And
probably best of all, the tea also had no bitterness...something I'm
always thankful for when experimenting with a new black tea!
Recommendation : Maybe. If this is the only earl grey
tea around, by all means...go for it. It is a flavorful tea and pleasant
to drink. It just doesn't compare to a quality earl grey tea...whether
it be from a bag or in loose-leaf form. Still, 50 cents for a box of
25 tea bags is tough to beat!
