Numi Ruby Chai Spiced Rooibos Tea
Review
A Superb Rooibos Chai Tea
Summary : If you enjoy chai teas, well, stop right
here. This tea is sure to satisfy the taste buds of anyone who enjoys
a good chai tea.
Review : I suspect that few daily tea drinkers have
ever tried a rooibos tea. Which is unfortunate, since rooibos teas are
darn good. True, they don't come from the "tea bush" and are technically
not considered a true tea. Yet, rooibos teas have many of the health
benefits of a traditional black/green tea...and without the caffeine
too!
For this reason, as well as due to my adventurous nature when it comes
to tea, I always look forward to trying out new rooibos teas. And this
is especially so when it is a chai, or spiced, tea. I love spicy teas!
So a mix of spicy things in a rooibos tea should be darn close to heaven,
right?
Here is how Numi describes this tea on their website : "Earthy, vanilla
organic Rooibos and a sultry blend of spices come together from around
the world in Numi's caffeine-free chai. Warmed by the South African sun,
Rooibos is lauded for its high anti-oxidant properties. It is full-bodied
like black tea, yet soothing any time of day. We've sourced the highest
quality cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon, mingling them with sweet Indian allspice
and vivacious Chinese ginger. A kiss of cardamom unites this fabulous caffeine-free
alternative to Numi's Golden Chai."
This organic tea contains the following ingredients : rooibos leaves,
cloves, allspice, ginger, cardamom, nutmeg and cinnamon...all of which
are organic.
Straight out of the foil wrapper, this bag tea smells exactly like your typical
chai tea. Make no mistake. You'll find absolutely no aroma of a traditional
rooibos tea. And truthfully, that is a good thing...a spicy tea should pretty
much overwhelm the aroma of the tea it is blended in, at least as far as my
taste buds are concerned.
Once this tea has been brewed, well, this tea tastes almost exactly like I
thought it would....a spicy chai tea. The tea has an excellent traditional
chai tea flavor, along with a strong cinnamon flavor too. The tea lacks any
sort of bitterness, too...always a good thing and one nice thing in general
about rooibos teas.
Overall, if you enjoy spicy tea or chai teas, I strongly suspect this one
from Numi Teas will also be enjoyed.
Recommendation : Yes. Anyone who loves chai teas will love
this one. And for rooibos tea lovers, I suspect you'll find this tea a delightful
"break" from traditional rooibos tea.
