Tulsi Gotu Kola Herbal
Tea Review
A Unique Tasting Tea
Summary : This tea from Tulsi
Teas is a organic tea
that has a very unique flavor to it. The flavor of the tea is neither
sweet nor does it have any sort of special "pop" to it. But still,
the tea if flavorful in a unique way (due to its organic ingredients)
and is a very healthy tea to drink.
Review : Wow...it's been almost five days since I put
a review up on the site. Talk about slacking. However, I do have an excuse...I've
been busy learning Word Press, a blog software I plan on using for this
site in the future. Additionally, I've been drinking a few teas I really
like...and haven't been feeling very experimental recently.
But all that changed tonight...at 1:30am. I got in the mood to try something
different, and when it comes to different, you'll be hard pressed to
find a more different tea than the ones from Tulsi
Teas. So I picked
through my sampler package and gave their Gotu Kola herbal tea a try.
Here is how Tulsi
describes this tea on their website : "Gotu Kola (or Brahmi) has
been honored for centuries in the Ayurvedic system of medicine, and is
traditionally used to support memory and mental clarity. Its jasmine-like
flavor and purifying properties are enhanced with organic Rama, Krishna,
and Vana Tulsi in our Tulsi Gotu Kola Tea. Prized by students and yogis
for is calming, clarifying effects, this tea nourishes the nervous system
and encourages emotional well-being."
This tea is a organic tea and contains the following ingredients : Organic
Rama Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum), Organic Krishna Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum), Organic
Vana Tulsi (Ocimum gratissimum), Organic Brahmi (Centella asiatica).
The fragrance of the tea before brewing is kind of boring. Nothing special.
Nothing awful. But definitely different. It really has the same fragrance
as their original tea does...which was truthfully kind of a evil omen.
Fortunately, the flavor of this tea was far better than their original
tea. Now, to be brutally honest here...I found the flavor of jasmine
to be non-existent in the tea. And believe me, I love jasmine, and I
would have most definitely noticed if their was a jasmine flavor in the
tea. There isn't...despite the teas description as saying it has a "jasmine-like
flavor."
Still, while this tea lacks any sort of a jasmine flavor to it...the
flavor of the tea isn't that bad at all. Just highly different...like
all other Tulsi Teas are. The flavor of the tea to me at least seemed
to have a "slight hint" of ginger to it. But don't take this the wrong
way...the tea is NOT a ginger tea.
Overall, this is a very unique tea...in both terms of ingredients used
and the teas flavor. The tea is also very healthy due to the types of
leaves used in the tea. And as for the flavor, well...some will undoubtedly
love this tea, others like me will be luke-warm on it, and for those
who need teas that have a big flavor "pop" them...well...the tea is likely
to be a disappointment.
Recommendation : Yes. While I didn't find the flavor
of the tea to be anything special, it certainly isn't bad. And the tea
has many healthy benefits as the Tulsi website lays out. So long as you
aren't searching for a highly flavorful or sweet tea, the odds are probably
fairly high that you'll enjoy this tea to some degree or another.
