Republic of Tea Chamomile Lemon
Herbal Tea Review
An Excellent Lemon Flavored Chamomile
Tea
Summary : Can't sleep? Well, keep those sleeping pills
in the bathroom, as this pleasant lemon flavored chamomile tea from the
Republic of Tea will put you on your back within 20 minutes without the
nasty effects of sleeping pills.
Review : Here it is. 5 am, Thursday morning, and I've
been up all night, and am not especially tired. But I MUST get some sleep
so that I can get back on semi-normal hours. But how? Well, you can either
load up on booze, on sleeping pills, or, use nature's way, by drinking
a cup of chamomile tea.
The first one I came across was a chamomile tea from the Republic of
Tea, called Chamomile Lemon Herbal Tea. As I love chamomile teas, or
at least good ones, and I love lemon, well, what can I say...this tea
had my name on it this morning.
Here is the description of this tea as provided by Republic of Tea : "Surrender
to Sleep Herb Tea--Chamomile is blended with lemon balm, linden flowers,
orange blossoms, lavender flower, skullcap, passion flower,
and valerian root to produce a fragrant, and soothing cup. These potent
botanicals surrender a most sweet and tranquil tea - delighting the palate,
body and mind."
Surrender to Sleep. Hmm..I like the sound of that, especially
since here it is, 5am, and I've been up all night. So I ripped open the
package in a state of semi-desperation and gave this tea a try.
The leaves for this tea smelled delicious. The leaves had a fragrance
of good lemon chamomile teas I've had before, with the fragrance being,
obviously, lemon!
Now, not all chamomile teas in this world are created equally. It's
been my sad experience that a large number of bagged chamomile teas
use such poor quality leaves that, during the brewing process, the flavor
of the tea becomes "burnt," as strange as it may seem. Happily, I've
yet to have this problem with loose-leaf chamomile teas, and so with
this thought in mind and the pleasant fragrance of the tea spreading
through
my kitchen, I looked forward to giving this tea a try.
I was not disappointed. This chamomile tea tasted exactly like what
I thought it would, a rarity in the tea tasting business! The flavor
of chamomile is most definitely there, but is not overpowering strong,
which is the way it should be. And as the leaves were of high quality,
there was no "burnt" flavor or other nasty tastes. And finally, the lemon
flavor was perfectly mixed in, or as goldilocks might say, "not too strong,
not too light...but just right."
And just right really does nicely define this tea. It's enjoyable to
drink, it has no nasty flavors, and a pleasant but not too terribly long
lingering after-taste. In short, it's a great before bedtime tea.
Recommendation : Yes. This is a wonderful chamomile
tea. Lightly flavored with lemon, no nasty flavors and high quality leaves.
And...most importantly...this tea DOES work, at least on me. Just like
other chamomile teas I've had before, this tea is making me sleepy. So
I'm going to end this review now before the effects of becoming sleepy
wear off! Night.
