Lipton Peppermint Herbal Tea Review
An average bagged peppermint tea
Summary : This tea is nothing special, but nothing
terrible either. In the end, its just your average bagged peppermint
tea, with a bit weaker taste than the similar Stash
Peppermint Tea.
Review : I love peppermint. If the name of something
has peppermint in it, most likely, I'll love it. And if the name says
peppermint, I'll most definitely try it - regardless of what "it" may
be.
And so when I stumbled across some Lipton Peppermint Herbal Tea, there
was no doubt that the box would find its way into my shopping cart at
the local grocery store.
The aroma of this tea, fresh out of the foil package it comes packaged
in, provides a moderately strong but not overpowering peppermint smell.
It's not nearly as strong as what is found with loose-leaf peppermint
tea, nor even as strong as some bagged versions like Stash - but is still
quite noticeable.
Like all other peppermint tea, Lipton's version is very simple. It contains
peppermint leaves - and nothing else. But sadly, as with other peppermint
bagged teas, the leaves are REAL small, leaving little doubt that you
are essentially getting the "left overs".
That you get the "left over" peppermint leaves is evident
by the taste. While the tea definitely tastes like a peppermint tea,
the taste is not nearly as strong nor as flavorful as what can be found
in a higher quality loose-leaf peppermint tea, such as Adagio's
Peppermint Tea. And rather surprisingly, I found the flavor to be
weaker than even the bagged Stash
Peppermint Tea.
Still, while the flavor of this tea is weaker than other peppermint
teas on the market, it isn't THAT weak. When drinking this tea, there
is no doubt that this is indeed a peppermint tea. And if you've never
tried a real good peppermint tea before, anyone who likes mint will definitely
like this particular tea from Lipton.
The problem, of course, is that once you've tried a REAL good peppermint
tea - the flavor of Lipton's Peppermint Tea just fails to stack up. Instead
of being a "good tea", it just becomes your average supermarket
tea.
Recommendation : If you've never tried loose-leaf peppermint
tea before, and if you like a minty tea, you'll like this tea as it is
indeed a "peppermint tea". But if you already like higher quality
peppermint teas, forget about trying this one, as the taste will be disappointing.
This tea also has a decent after-taste, too.
