Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime
Herbal Tea Review
A light tasting tea with a hint of
spearmint - perfect for a bedtime tea
Summary : This is a "flavored chamomile tea" that
is far, far better than the straight chamomile tea from Celestial Seasonings.
This tea does indeed make for a pleasant night-time tea.
Review : After drinking 5 Celestial Seasonings teas
in a row, and not particularly liking any of them, I have to admit -
I was a bit skeptical about this one. However, my skepticism eased a
bit after smelling it - as this "Sleepytime Tea" had an absolutely
delightful, moderately strong smell of spearmint, among other things.
And so, with spirits lifted, I actually looked forward to giving this
tea a try.
This tea is, in essence, a "flavored" chamomile tea, being
a mix of chamomile flowers, spearmint leaves and other things. Like all
other herbal teas, this tea is 100% caffeine free.
Celestial Teas "Sleepytime Tea" contains the following ingredients
: Chamomile flowers, spearmint leaves, lemon grass, tilia flowers, blackberry
leaves, orange blossoms, hawthorn berries, and rosebuds.
So, what was the taste like? I liked it - how's that? Unlike the pure Chamomile
Tea from Celestial Seasonings - which had a poor flavor and a terrible
aroma - this tea had a nice, pleasant taste. In particular, the mixture
of chamomile flowers and spearmint leaves really comes off nice, producing
a unique and satisfying taste.
The taste of spearmint in the tea was on the weak side, but then again,
it should be that way. After all, this isn't a spearmint tea
- it's a bedtime tea, a relaxation tea. And such teas usually do not
have strong tastes or lingering after-tastes.
Now, that said, I've had better bedtime teas. Still, this one isn't
bad at all. And unlike many of the other Celestial Teas I've tried recently,
the remaining tea bags from the box won't be finding their way into the
trash can!
And oh, as a sidenote, this tea isn't false advertising either. About
10 minutes after drinking this tea, I did indeed find myself getting
sleepy!
Recommendation : Yes. The tea has a light, pleasant
taste with a hint of spearmint. And it does indeed make for a nice "bedtime
tea."
