Celestial Seasonings Cranberry Apple
Zinger Review
A Nice Mix of Apple and Cranberries
Summary : A surprisingly good tea from Celestial Seasonings.
The mix between apple and cranberry really works, with a nice, pretty
potent and pleasant taste.
Review : Call it bad luck if you will. Or perhaps bad
karma. But regardless of what you name it, as my first experiences with
tea from Celestial Seasonings were all pretty bad, whenever I taste a
tea from them now I always end up looking at the tea as a glass "half
empty." In short, I'm generally braced for the worst - expecting
either a weak taste, a bad taste or perhaps no taste at all.
It was in this mindset that I brewed my first cup of their Cranberry
Apple Zinger Herbal Tea.
Here is what Celestial Seasonings says about this tea : "Cranberry
Apple Zinger Herb Tea abounds with the fruits of an American harvest.
Tart cranberries nurtured by brisk ocean breezes. Fresh apples picked
crisp and juicy from country orchards. Together these create a snappy
blend that zings with delightfully invigorating flavor. Naturally caffeine
free, Cranberry Apple Zinger is energized with simply refreshing herbal
ingredients."
This Cranberry Apple tea from Celestial Seasonings contains the following
ingredients : Hibiscus, cinnamon, roasted chicory root, natural flavors,
chamomile flowers, blackberry leaves, cranberries, and apples.
I did allow my hopes to rise a bit after opening up the package that
the tea is wrapped up in. The scent of the tea, while hardly overpowering,
still was moderately strong and did have a nice hint of apples and cranberries.
Yet, I've drunk so many teas that smelled so good right out of the bag
only to have an absolute dismal taste to it once brewed.
Yet, happily, disappointment was averted for another day. Amazingly
enough, this tea really does taste as advertised. The taste of apples
and cranberries is, quite literally, all over this tea. And the taste
is good, a nice, soothing flavor, without a trace of bitterness. And
the color of the brewed tea nearly matched that of cranberry juice, too.
Overall, I rather liked this tea. Yeah, there are better loose leaf
versions around with a bit more "punch" to them I'm sure. Yet,
don't write this tea off. For a bagged tea is has a nice, pleasant flavor
with a very enjoyable and rather long-lasting after-taste. Moreover,
I can see where this tea would REALLY be very good as an iced tea.
Recommendation : Yes. If you like apples and/or cranberries
- or better yet, both - then this tea is most definitely for you. The
tea has a pleasant and rather potent flavor with a lingering, tasty after-taste.
I suspect this tea would also be awesome as an iced tea, but I haven't
tried it yet that way so don't hold me too it.
