Bigelow Peppermint Herbal Tea Review
Your Average Bagged Supermarket Peppermint
Tea
Summary : It's not the greatest peppermint tea in existence,
but it's not bad either. Basically, just your average peppermint tea
that you can pick up at the supermarket.
Review : I love peppermint. Pure and simple. Peppermint
+ Me = Heaven. Well, ok, maybe that's a bit of a stretch, but not by
much.
And so when I found the peppermint tea foil in my Bigelow Herbal Tea Sampler
I picked up, I couldn't wait to try it.
The fragrance of the tea right out of the foil wrapper was what it should
be - you are greeted with the strong smell of peppermint. If it was anything
else, I would have been greatly disappointed!
Bigelow's Peppermint Herbal Tea contains exactly one ingredient, and
that is peppermint leaves. Period.
Once brewed, the tea tastes like, wanna guess?
Yep, that right, it tastes like peppermint! With only peppermint leaves
in the tea, I would have been shocked to the point of death if it tasted
differently.
Yet, while the tea was definitely a peppermint tea, it is far from being
the best peppermint tea in the known universe. I found the taste to be
a bit on the weak side, even weaker tasting than the similarily bagged
and supermarket competitior Stash
Peppermint Tea. And Bigelow's Peppermint Tea is far, far weaker in
both taste and after-taste when stacked up against the amazingly good Adagio
Peppermint Tea, which is a loose-leaf tea.
I was also very disappointed with the after-taste - or lack thereof
- with this tea. The after-taste was gone within minutes. By comparison,
the after-taste found in Adagio's
Peppermint Tea literally lingered forever, something I love.
On the other hand, if you do want a weaker tasting peppermint flavor
that doesn't have a lingering after-taste of nearly an hour like Adagio's
tea does, then you may like this tea more than myself.
Recommendation : Yes. If you like peppermint, or for
that matter other peppermint teas, you'll enjoy this tea. The reason
it gets three stars is because while it is good, it's still a far cry
from a loose-leaf peppermint tea, in both flavor terms and after-taste
terms.
