An Excellent and Spicy Chai Green Tea

Summary : If you are a chai tea lover, then this green chai tea from the Republic of Tea has your name on it. It has a wonderful flavor that nicely mixes cinnamon, ginger and green tea...with just enough "kick" to get you going.

Review : Wow...it's been a few days since I wrote a review...busy as I have been with other stuff. Plus truthfully, I needed a break from tea for a bit. But tonight I found myself in the mood for a tea...something with some kick to it to keep me going (after all, it is 4am!). And there...conveniently sitting on my kitchen counter...was a untried green chai tea from the Republic of Tea. As I love their teas...this tea was irrestible so I ripped open the bag and gave it a try.

This chai green tea from the Republic of Tea contains the following ingredients : fAssam green tea leaves blended with spicy ginger, cinnamon, cardamom and fresh almonds.

Here is how the Republic of Tea describes this tea : "Turn over a new leaf with the health benefits of Republic Green Chai. Green tea is blended with spicy ginger, cinnamon and cardamom is finished with sweetness of fresh almonds."

Now, for those expecting a "spicy aroma" from the tea leaves themselves, you'll be disappointed. There is no pepper in this tea...so there is no "spicy aroma" as is found in many spicy black teas.

Yet, the aroma of this tea was still quite pleasing. The ginger fragrance in particular was quite noticeable.

While the fragrance of this tea may disappoint chai tea lovers, make no mistake, the flavor will NOT.

The flavor of this tea is, quite simply, superb. It is the ideal blend of green tea with ginger and cinnamon. And the cinnamon flavor is especially strong...and very long lasting. Indeed, in many ways I would classify this tea as a cinnamon green tea.

The tea also lacks any sort of bitterness, long as you don't overbrew it of course. And really, I suspect if you accidentally overbrewed this tea a minute or two you really wouldn't notice...since the flavor of the cinnamon is so darn strong!

Overall, if you enjoy chai teas...you'll like this tea. And if you enjoy cinnamon teas...you'll especially love this tea. And if you like green tea but want to try something new...this is a great green tea to try.

Recommendation : Yes. While not nearly as spicy as many black chai tea, this tea still has enough kick to get you going. And the flavor of this tea is superb...I espeically enjoyed the strong cinnamon flavor found in the tea.
