Numi Rainforest Green Lemon Myrtle
Tea Review
A Very Tasty Lemon Flavored Organic
Green Tea
Summary : If you like lemon flavored teas, well, do
I have the tea for you. The tea bears the name of, well, look above.
But it's a great lemon flavored green tea, that happens to be fully organic
too.
Review : The good news is that I have a Target a few
blocks away from where I live. The bad news is that I spend too much
time there...although sorry Target...I don't really spend that much with
you. But regardless of my spending habits, I do have a tendency to wander
around the store.
So one day, while walking through the beverage aisle for some soda,
I noticed their tiny little tea selection. And wouldn't you know it,
sitting there all by itself, was a Numi Teas Sampler package. As I can't
resist sampler packages, I picked it up and went home to try my first
ever Numi tea.
All I can say is, my first ever tasting experience with Numi Teas has
been a very happy one. The tea I first tried, mainly because it fell
on the floor while opening up the box, goes by the rather long and convoluted
name of Rainforest Green Mate' Lemon Myrtle Green Tea.
This green tea from Numi, which is organic by the way, contains
the following ingredients : "South American Yerba Mate Blend (an evergreen
leaf), Australian Lemon Myrtle, Chun Mee Green Tea leaves."
Here is how Numi describes this tea : "For hundreds of years, Yerba
Mate has long been a ceremonial drink of friendship, hospitality, strength,
and courage to the people of the South American rainforest. This evergreen
leaf is known for its pleasantly stimulating effect and for evoking a
cheerful mental lucidity. We are proud to introduce this delightful tasting
infusion of organic Mate with the Australian rainforests' organic Lemon
Myrtle, touted as herb of the millennium for its high citral content.
Organic Chun Mee green tea, skillfully hand-rolled into the eyebrow contour
of its name, unfolds a subtle, plum-like sweetness to the leafy lemon
piquancy of Mate and Myrtle. This energizing blend uplifts one's senses,
as clarity arrives like birdsong after fresh rain."
Pretty strong words...especially for a bagged tea. Also, what in the
world is a "birdsong after fresh rain?"
Yet, while they were strong words...and I have yet to hear a "birdsong
after fresh rain" after drinking it, this tea is quite simply excellent.
It has a wonderful lemon flavor to it. Gone is any bitterness, just make
sure
you don't
oversteep it.
This tea is anything but a "cheap chinese restaurant" green tea. So
if you have been burned by those teas...remove that image from your conscience.
This tea in no way compares to those awful bagged chinese restaurant
type green teas.
In many ways, I think this green tea from Numi makes for a perfect beginner
green tea. It also makes for a perfect tea for people "recovering from
bad green tea tasting experiences," for lack of a better way to describe
it.
Recommendation : This tea makes for a superb way to
get your healthy antioxidants (which are found in green tea), all in
a very tasty, lemon flavored package. Normally, I don't give out many
5 star rankings to bagged teas...but I'll make an exception in this case.
I just really enjoyed this tea. No bitterness. Great lemon taste...all
with a pleasant green tea flavor lurking in the background. About the
only people who will not enjoy this tea are folks who don't like lemon
or who are "green tea purists."
