Celestial Seasonings Authentic Green
Tea Review
Just Your Basic Pure Green Tea
Summary : Not a bad green tea at all. But nothing totally
inspiring either. The tea has a nice, light green tea taste. But being
a bagged tea, it lacks the "sweeping" flavor that a quality loose-leaf
green tea has.
Review : Having recently sampled a few "flavored" green
teas from
Celestial Seasonings, and actually liking them, I was curious what
their "pure" green
tea would taste like. And so I rippped open the foil bag and got my
first encounter with what would become just your average bagged green tea.
Straight out of the foil wrapper, this tea pretty much smelled like I
thought it would. Just like your standard boxed green tea, admittedly.
Nothing pungent. Nothing overwhelming. But nothing bad, either.
Here is what Celestial Seasonings has to say about their Authentic
Green Tea. "Celestial Seasonings Authentic Green Tea is good for
your taste buds, too! Unlike some other green teas, our finest quality
blend tastes smooth from first sip to last swallow. Its fresh flavor
whispers of the moment when a new day first dawns, alive with invigorating
sunlight and clean air. The gentle touch of our Authentic Green Tea
makes taking care of yourself a pleasure."
As this is a "pure" green tea, nothing has been added to it. There
is no flavors. No infusions. Just pure green tea leaves.
After reading about what Celestial Seasonings said this tea would
do for me, admittedly, I got my hopes up. And, truthfully, their is
nothing wrong with this tea. And the tea is indeed smooth and possesses
a light flavor. But I really don't think this tea is going to make
me come alive with memories of "invigorating sunlight and clear air!"
Still, I'm not going to knock this tea too badly. The taste was pleasant.
The tea wasn't bitter. And the tea did indeed go down smooth from beginning
to end. The problem was that in comparison to quality loose-leaf green
teas, this tea was just, well, ho-hum.
Overall, for a bagged green tea, this is actually pretty good. Definitely
better than many other bagged green teas. Yet, it falls short of loose-leaf
quality.
Recommendation : Yes, if you don't want to deal with
a loose-leaf green tea, this bagged tea from Celestial Seasonings is
probably one of the best "supermarket" green teas you are going to
find. But there are far better loose-leaf green teas available that
cost about the same, if not less, too.
