Impra Lemon Flavored
Black Tea Review
A Surprisngly Good Lemon Flavored
Tea
Summary : I was expecting basically nothing...being
a generic grocery store bagged tea. And what I found was a very strong
and pleasant tasting lemon tea instead. I'm quite happy!
Review : The name "Global Brands" is not likely to
make the lovers of tea come running to the store everytime new stock
of this tea arrives. And indeed, I was leery of buying it...after all...at
50 cents a box, how could it possibly be good?
Still, I have the largest tea review site on the Internet...so I felt
compelled to give this tea a try. Moreover, I also have a lemon addiction...if
a tea is suppose to have lemon in it, I will try it...and to heck with
what the name on the box says! Lastly, while the tea is branded "Global
Brands," in fact that is the private label name for a tea that is put
out by Impra Teas.
Happily, I got a pleasant surprise in this tea. The aroma of the tea
is nothing special, but that didn't surprise me at all. Generic black
teas use low quality black tea leaves...hence the lack of smell. And
lemon itself doesn't have a powerful fragrance...usually...until it is
brewed. Hence, the lack of aroma was neither disappointing nor suprising.
Still, I was encouraged...as during the brewing process the tea definitely
had a nice lemon fragrance to it, which is always a good sign.
Unlike many flavored black teas...particularly those loose-leaf flavored
black teas...the flavor of black tea was on the weak side. This is undoubtedly
due to the low quality of the black tea leaves used in the tea. Still,
in many ways, this is a GOOD thing...otherwise the powerful flavor of
the black tea would drown out the lemon flavor that has been added to
the tea.
And since lemon is what I wanted in this tea, this is a good thing.
And if you like a lemon tea, you'll appreciate the subtle and subuded
black tea flavor too...assuming you can break away from the uninspiring
brand name of "Global Brands."
As for the lemon flavor of the tea, it is surprisingly strong. Not too
strong to be like sucking on a raw lemon...but not so weak that you can
barely taste it. Goldilocks comes to mind here...not too strong...not
too weak..."just right."
The tea also lacks any sort of bitterness to it...and I brewed it for
5 minutes. Once again, this is due to the low quality black tea leaves
used. But you know what...in this particular tea...who cares! Long as
it tastes good and the lemon flavor is strong, that is all I care about.
And in that regard, the tea delivered.
Overall, this tea was surprising...and in a good way. If you like lemon
teas, the odds are high that you'll enjoy this tea. And at 50 cents a
box, it won't break your bank account either!
Recommendation : Yes. If you like other lemon flavored
teas...black or otherwise...you'll likely enjoy this tea.
