A Tasty Strawberry Flavored Black
Tea
Summary : This tea was a happy surprise. The aroma
of strawberry is weak...but the flavor isn't. And the overpowering taste
of your typical black tea is happily absent.
Review : There's a storm coming in...yet another in
a long line of storms that seem to hit the Sierra Mountains each winter.
The temperature is colder than normal...and winter just seems like it
will never end. All of which left me wondering...where is the warm weather?
And so in this happy frame of mind I was in the mood for something "summery."
And of course, strawberries are one of the best fruits you are going
to find to bring back the warm, happy days of summer. And the first tea
I found in my stash of teas that said strawberry on it was a strawberry
flavored black tea from Ahmad Teas.
As the Ahmad Tea Company is based in London, their teas are sadly hard
to find here in the United States. Happily, Amazon usually has a wide
assortment of Ahmad Teas...solving this otherwise sad problem.
Here is how Ahmad Teas describes this tea : "A refreshing blend
of exclusive quality teas enhanced with strawberry flavour. A delicious
cup of tea for any time of the day, which can be enjoyed hot or iced."
The tea contains the following ingredients : Black tea leaves, strawberry
flavouring.
Admittedly, I didn't have high hopes for this tea straight out of
the bag. There was virtually no aroma of strawberry in the tea at all.
And this worried me.
Happily, me fears were unfounded. Once brewed the tea has a moderately
strong aroma of strawberries, with a flavor to match. And even better,
there was no overpowering flavor of black tea that would only serve
to bury the strawberry flavor. Similarily, the tea had no bitterness,
either...just be careful to only brew the tea for 3 minutes!
Recommendation : Yes. If you enjoy a good strawberry
herbal tea, but want your antioxidants too...which black tea has plenty
of...this tea is a great way to have your cake and eat it to. The tea
has a pleasant strawberry flavor with no bitterness. As
Ahmad Teas are hard to find, your best place to pick some up is at
Amazon.Com in their Grocery Section.
