Adagio Teas : Gingerbread Flavored
Tea Review
Sort of Like Drinking a Gingerbread
Cookie....Sort of
Summary : This tea is not destined to replace
gingerbread or gingerbread cookies over Christmas. Still, this tea bears
a striking resemblance to gingerbread...just in liquid form. If gingerbread
is you thing, I suspect you'll likely enjoy this tea to one degree or
another.
Review : Well, here it is...those strange days between
Christmas and New Years. The Christmas stuff is packed away, the weather
just keeps getting colder but the fun of New Years hasn't started out
yet. So perhaps in a mood for self-punishement, I decided to give the
gingerbread flavored black tea from
Adagio Teas
a try.
Truthfully, I didn't have high hopes for this tea. This tea came part
of their holiday sampler pack. And the two teas I tried before this from
this sampler pack, pumpkin spice and chestnut, were definitely teas I
would rather forget about having tried.
Still, I live by the motto...nothing ventured is nothing gained, so
off I went to brew this tea...admittedly in a rather negative state of
mind. Here is how
Adagio Teas describes this tea on their website : "Premium black tea from Sri
Lanka flavored with sweet gingerbread. Both Gingerbread men and women
agree: this unique tea is the perfect addition to any house (gingerbread
or regular). You'll run, run, run as fast as you can for another cup!
Try this limited-time treat."
Overall, with the exception of running as fast as I can for another
cup,
Adagio Teas
did a pretty honest job of describing this tea.
This tea, as advertised, tastes like sweet gingerbread. How they accomplished
making a "bread tasting tea" is beyond me...but they did. The tea also
lacks any sort of black tea taste...a common trait of other flavored
black teas. And lastly, the tea has no bitterness...always a happy
event when sampling flavored black teas.
So, overall...if you love gingerbread, there is a high probability
you'll like this tea. As gingerbread isn't really my thing, this tea
is far from my favorite tea around. But, it isn't drain cleaner either.
Recommendation : Yes. If you enjoy gingerbread, you'll
likely enjoy this tea. If gingerbread is not your thing...avoid this
tea, as gingerbread is what this tea essentially is.
