Adagio Teas : Cranberry Flavored
Black Tea Review
It Neither Smells Nor Tastes of Cranberries
Summary : If you like cranberries and cranberry
tea, I have some good news for you...spend your money on something else,
as
this
one is sure to displease.
Review : Wisconsin, besides being the land of the cheeseheads
and Packer fanatics, is also one of the primary growers of those lovely
little fruits called cranberries. And well, since I found myself in Wisconsin
over the Christmas-New Years period, it just seemed fitting to try out
the "holiday tea" from
Adagio Teas
that has the rather deceptive name of Cranberry Flavored Black Tea.
Now admittedly, cranberries aren't my favorite fruit on this green earth.
But I've liked plenty of other cranberry
teas, so I sort of figured I
would enjoy this one as well.
Here is how
Adagio Teas describes this tea on their website : "Premium black tea from Sri
Lanka flavored with sweet, tangy cranberries. This delicious autumn delight
is a great complement to your next turkey feast, which your guests are
sure to gobble down. Please give this limited-time tea a try-- your teacups
will give thanks!"
Now normally, Adagio is pretty straight forward in describing their
teas, lofty language and all. Well, all I can say is...back to the drawing
board on describing this miserable tea.
Well, where to begin. How about serving this tea with a Turkey dinner?
Um....only serve this tea with your immaculately prepared Turkey if
you don't like your house guests...after drinking this tea you'll likely
soon see your guests head for the door.
Sadly, though...the tea once brewed basically has little flavor of
cranberries and, all too typically, a way too strong taste of black
tea...complete with bitterness and all.
Overall, I was disappointed in this tea...mainly due to any lack of
any real cranberry flavor, despite the little dried up cranberries
in the tea itself. I'll give Adagio credit for trying something new.
But to my taste buds, this tea is best left at the store or on a forgotten
about kitchen shelf.
Recommendation : No. If you like cranberry teas, you
definitely won't like this one, as there is very little cranberry taste
at all.
