Adagio Teas : Candy Apple Flavored
Tea Review
A Odd Tasting Caramel Flavored Tea
Summary : This tea is no replacement, sadly, for
a caramel covered apple. You can taste the caramel in the tea, although
it is a rather odd "caramel flavor." Sadly, the apple flavor of the tea
is missing altogether.
Review : One of the greatest snacks of all time, one
that is even marginally healthy too, is a caramel covered apple. I mean,
who doesn't like apples dipped in caramel? As such, I was rather curious
to see how the candy apple tea from
Adagio Teas
would stack up to the real thing.
And since I'm always on the lookout for low calorie snacks, I had rather
high hopes for this tea too. Yeah, beat me to death...I know that is
a bad thing to do. Still, I have a incurable sweet tooth, so the mere
thought of finding a nice, sweet tea that has no calories simply put
me in a very positive and euphoric mood.
Here is how
Adagio Teas describes this tea on their website : "Premium black tea from Sri
Lanka flavored with caramel and apple pieces. A taste reminiscent of
the trick-or-treating favorite, auspiciously available for Halloween.
You'll think it's scary how delicious this tea is - but it is only available
for a limited time, so don't miss it!."
Well, where to begin. Oh...let us start with the teas aroma. Now,
the aroma isn't half bad. You can really smell the caramel infusion.
However, rather curiously, you can not smell the apple in this tea
at all. Still, I did my best to keep an open mind...lack of apple aroma
and all.
Sadly, though...the tea once brewed basically tasted exactly like
it smelled. You have a relatively strong caramel taste...with no taste
of apples at all. And perhaps worse yet, I found the caramel flavor
a bit on the "strange side," for lack of a better word. The caramel
flavoring in this tea is by no means a substitute for a piece of Brach's
caramel candy, that is for sure.
Overall, I was disappointed in this tea...mainly due to any lack of
apple taste - despite the rather large chunks of apple that are found
in the tea.
Recommendation : No. If you like apple teas, you definitely
won't like this one, as there is no apple taste at all. And unless
you like any caramel flavoring, in all forms and shapes, I suspect
most people wont' care for the caramel taste in this tea either...as
the caramel flavor tastes nothing like a caramel candy, let alone a
caramel covered apple.
