Stash Holiday Chai Black Tea Review

A Very Flavorful and Rather Spicy Chai Tea

Summary : A surprisingly tasty, spicy and flavorful tea...especially considering that it is from a supermarket brand chai tea.

Review : Time to be honest here. After yesterdays horrid tea tasting experience with Stash's Green Tea, I was fully prepared to not like this tea either. I've actually liked many of Stash's teas, but after yesterday, I was nearly turned off of Stash for good.

Yet, I'm a survivor and with the approach of the Christmas season, I was in the mood for something that tasted like, well, Christmas. And so, during my tea hunt, I discovered an overlooked bag of Stash Holiday Chai, a black tea.

I like chai teas. I love the spice and flavor that the tea brings out. True, there are some bad chais teas out there, but by and large, I'll try any chai tea that comes my way.

The Holiday Chai Black Tea from Stash contains the following ingredients : Blended black tea, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger root, allspice, clove, gingerbread, rum and nutmeg flavors.

Here is how Stash describes this tea : "Celebrate the season with Holiday Chai, a warming winter drink infused with gingerbread and rum flavors."

I have been a "sucker" for the description of a tea before, being led to believe the tea will taste like one thing when it tastes totally different. Yet, here, this tea really does indeed taste as described.

This tea has a nice little kick to it. Unlike many other chai teas, you don't get a pepper taste in this one. Instead, you are rewarded with a pleasant mixing of cinnamon, rum and nutmeg tastes. True, it is a rather big variety of tastes, but Stash pulls it off...allowing for a very tasty, flavorful and enjoyable tea.

In the end, this tea was a very pleasant surprise from Stash. I didn't have high hopes for this tea at first, but both the aroma of the tea out of the bag and the taste once brewed made me a convert. If you like cinnamon or chai teas, I suspect you'll definitely like this one.

Recommendation : Yes. This really does make for a very nice "holiday tea." Unlike other chai teas, this one doesn't have a pepper taste to it. Instead, you'll taste cinnamon, nutmeg and the rum flavoring that is added. It produces a very nice, pleasing taste with a bit of a "kick" as well.
